Heim’s Hillcrest Dairy Joins the Parade Tradition

There’s something special about a small-town parade. The familiar faces, the smiles from the crowd, the music, the candy being tossed from floats—and the feeling of coming together as a community.

At Heim’s Hillcrest Dairy, we love being part of those traditions.

From the Kewaunee County Fair in Luxemburg to Shanty Days in Algoma, our team has found plenty of ways to bring a little farm fun, creativity and personality to the parade route.

A Little Magic at the Kewaunee County Fair

This year, we were excited to take part in the Kewaunee County Fair parade, where the theme was “Magic at the Kewaunee County Fair.” That theme gave us plenty of room to get creative, and we decided to add a little dairy magic of our own.

Our message?

“Milk Is Magically Delicious!”

Creating a parade float isn’t something that happens overnight. Our team spent a lot of time dreaming up ideas, gathering materials, building, decorating and adding those special touches that would bring our vision to life. There was plenty of work involved—but there was also plenty of laughter and fun along the way.

We wanted our float to capture the magic of the fair while also showcasing something we know pretty well: milk! From the farm to the glass, there’s a lot that goes into producing wholesome, delicious dairy products, and we were proud to put a little farm flair into this year’s parade.

Partying Like It’s 1987

Our parade fun continues this summer at the Algoma Shanty Days parade, where we decided to take a trip back in time.

Way back to 1987!

To help promote our upcoming Farm-Fit Challenge, the Heim’s crew traded in their everyday farm clothes for some seriously memorable 1980s workout gear. We brought the leg warmers, the bright workout outfits and, of course, our very own version of Richard Simmons getting his workout on to some classic ’80s music.

It was impossible to miss us coming down the parade route!

The whole idea was to have fun and grab people’s attention while giving everyone a sneak peek at what Farm-Fit Challenge is all about. If you’re going to promote a farm-inspired obstacle course, you might as well get your workout in first!

And yes, we may have discovered that some of us were much better at dressing like we were ready for an ’80s workout than actually doing one.

More Than a Parade

For us, participating in local parades is about more than decorating a float or dressing up for the occasion. It’s about being part of the communities that have supported local farms for generations.

Agriculture and our local communities are closely connected. We’re proud to open our farm to visitors, share what we do every day and help people understand where their food comes from. Events like the Kewaunee County Fair and Shanty Days give us another opportunity to connect with our neighbors—sometimes with a little dairy magic, and sometimes with a whole lot of ’80s flair!

And let’s be honest: who doesn’t love a parade?

Seeing families lining the streets, kids waiting for candy and community organizations coming together is a tradition worth celebrating. We’re grateful to be included and happy to do our part to keep these local traditions going.

Whether we’re partying like it’s 1987, showing off our latest creative float or simply waving to our neighbors along the parade route, we’re proud to represent Heim’s Hillcrest Dairy and be part of the community we call home.

So, from everyone at Heim’s Hillcrest Dairy, thank you to the organizers, volunteers and everyone who comes out to enjoy these local celebrations.

We’ll keep bringing the farm fun, one parade at a time!

Milk is magically delicious—and being part of our community is pretty magical, too!
